The hormones behind your cycle and fertility
Female Hormone & Fertility
Your reproductive hormones work as a finely tuned system, shaping your menstrual cycle, fertility, mood and energy. This panel measures seven of the most informative: follicle stimulating hormone and luteinising hormone, which govern ovulation; oestradiol, the main form of oestrogen; prolactin; testosterone; sex hormone binding globulin; and the free androgen index that puts them in balance.
Read together, these markers can help you understand irregular or absent periods, difficulties conceiving, or symptoms that point towards conditions such as PCOS or the approach of menopause. Your sample is a single venous draw, taken in our private Leigh-on-Sea clinic and analysed by an accredited UK laboratory, followed by a doctor-reviewed report.
Because these hormones shift across your cycle, timing matters, and testing in the first days of your cycle gives the most reliable result. If you are planning a pregnancy or want to understand your body better, this panel offers a considered starting point worth discussing with your GP.
Preparation: Where possible, book your draw in the early part of your cycle, around days two to five, for the clearest baseline, and ideally in the morning. Note the day of your cycle and any hormonal contraception for your report.

About this test
The early follicular phase, roughly days two to five, gives the most interpretable baseline for FSH, LH and oestradiol. If your cycle is irregular, test when convenient and note the date for your report.
It can reveal hormonal patterns often associated with them, but no single panel confirms a diagnosis. Your results are best read alongside your symptoms and history with your GP, who can advise on next steps.
Most reports are returned within 5–7 working days of your sample reaching the laboratory, reviewed and explained by a doctor.
