A quiet check on your filters
Kidney
Your kidneys work around the clock, filtering waste from your blood and keeping the balance of salts and fluids just right. When they are under strain, the early signs are often subtle or absent altogether. This panel measures the core markers of kidney function, including creatinine, urea and your estimated filtration rate, to give you a clear and reassuring picture of how they are coping.
Alongside these, we check the key electrolytes your kidneys carefully regulate, sodium, potassium and chloride, plus uric acid and albumin. Your sample is a single venous draw taken in our private Leigh-on-Sea clinic and analysed by an accredited UK laboratory, with every result reviewed and explained in a doctor’s report.
It is a sensible check if you have a family history of kidney concerns, live with high blood pressure or diabetes, or want a clear baseline. Whatever the numbers show, your report explains what they mean in plain language and flags anything worth discussing with your GP or keeping an eye on over time.
Preparation: No fasting required. Staying well hydrated before your appointment helps, but there is no special preparation. If you take regular medication, continue as normal unless your GP has advised otherwise.

About this test
Your estimated glomerular filtration rate is a calculation of how efficiently your kidneys are filtering your blood. Read alongside creatinine and urea, it gives a clear sense of overall kidney function.
No fasting is needed for this panel. Arriving well hydrated makes your venous draw more comfortable.
Most reports are returned within 5–7 working days of your sample reaching the laboratory, reviewed and explained by a doctor.
